Here’s a lil art background about me…the quick and dirty version

Let me keep this short and sweet. I’m mostly a self-taught artist, with the exception of receiving certification as a freelance makeup artist in 2010 and taking a sewing class in 2018. 2020, I was a fashion reseller and upcycler. In 2022, I decided to pivot my business with the idea of using my denim painting skills to start Alex B Artistry. The doodles and drawings came from waking up in the middle of the night, pulling out my markers and paper. The chronic insomnia. I’m a recovering paper hoarder. I enjoy collaging and I wanted to make custom paper that I could collage. My writing journey started when I was a kid with writing in my journal. In 2004, I started posted my poetry online. Today, I enjoy writing microfictions writing and poetry and sharing them across my platforms.. Bite size stories is just enough for me. (big smile)

I love my job…really

I love being an artist. I have a full-time career as a legal assistant but painting and writing brings me so much peace.

My art is a representation of transparency and showing up as your most authentic self. As someone that has struggled with perfectionism, I wanted to create art that allowed me to express myself in any way that I felt. I don’t worry about straight lines (most of the time lol), symmetry or trying to perfect a color balance. Many of my pieces are so random and hardly anything is every planned in advance.

I also use a similar concept with my microfictions. The microfictions are written in a raw prose style that nearly anyone can relate to. I create the stories based on my person experiences, what I’ve been told, witnessed, music, TV, etc. My only rule is that I don’t name drop and if I do, the name is completely fictitious.
